NEMO in Long Island

Lots and lots of snow. 2.5 hours for 3 adults to shovel snow that was 23 inches deep.

My three boys had a blast. My ankle that I had surgery on back in may is currently cursing me along with the rest of my body.

The Cloud

My seven year old overheard me explaining cloud computing to a friend and he started laughing. When I asked him what was so funny he said everyone know computers can’t be in clouds.

So it inspired me to doodle on my iPhone 5 while watching nothing in particular on TV and listening to online training for some Oracle software.

Where did two weeks go?

Before I begin I want to say thank you to all my new twitter followers. Please keep spreading the word I am up to 228 I know its a modest number but hey you have to start somewhere right? If you would like to follow me please do so @just_rhianna.

I cannot believe it has been almost two weeks. I have been super busy with the new job blogging, getting the hang of policies and procedures, forming a strategy for the next year etc.

Today is the super bowl and I did a fair bit of domestic goddess stuff like cooking appetizers and entress for the big game. The I answered a few emails, sent my weekly report and was about to do some online learning but to my dismay my account needs to be updated for the new year and won’t be completed until our adminstrator can do it tomorrow.

So instead of work, laundry or dishes I decided to take a few minutes to visit you all.

I know I mentioned the new blog in another post but I want to make sure you get to read it if you find it interesting.

The articles are all under the category of CX (cusotmer experience to those of you unfamiliar with the term) and can be access at: http://blog.evergegroup.com/?cat=56

I fully intended to add a fourth article to the series last week but things at work got kicked up a bit with one trip to NYC and one to New Jersey and several additional unexpected confernece calls. So My goal this week is to add two articles to the series but that also partially is dependant on whether I can get the Fusion/RightNow integration demo to work. I had a few set backs like getting access to the demo environment, getting the documentation and then finding the time to work through the documentation. I promise I will keep you updated on my progress.

Taking the online course on Oracle Fusion has been interesitng and I plan on taking the Pre-Sale and Sales consultant Assessments over the next couple of weeks to add the certificates to my OPN (Oracle Partner) profile. I love learning new technologies and more certificates never hurt anyone. Especially ones that are relevant in your line of work. A certificate in say Basket weaving might not be so impressive to most of my techie friends.

So the next big event I am really looking forward to is Oracle Cloud World in NY. Just waiitng for the registration to open up and then I am definately attenidng. If anyone out there on the internets is going please drop me a line.

While hanging with the boys today Lucian found the face paint we didn’t get to use at halloween because of Hurricane Sandy and asked if I could transform him into a clown. He stayed quite still for his three year old self. Here is the end result.

Pain meet nausea

Today is 5 days post surgery and I was rewarded by waking up with more pain, nausea and a hint of dizziness. I called it a sick day but still answered a few questions via skype and email. Oh the joy of technology. I can be half dead on pain killers and still working to some extent. I took it easy the rest of the day sleeping for a good protion as I went through various stages of pain and nausea as well as a lunch time fever.

Going to try to work again tomorrow. Going back to bed for now after I take my ticket to wonderland. Good night All.

Oh the Agony

So it has been way too long since I have written. So much has gone on.

I got a promotion to Director, travelled to the UK again, and fell off a curb severly injuring my ankle for like the 100th time in 10 years.

After 2 months of Physical therapy, my leg getting worse my surgery that was scheduled for July got bumped up to yesterday.

It was supposed to be a fairly short procedure lasting only 90 minutes but instad turned into more than three hours. They cleaned up the cartilage in the ankle as I had some osteoarthritis going on from the repeated sprains. The also made an incision behingd the ankle bone to repair the ligament wihc they thought ned scar tissue removed and som tightening but as it turned out it was actually torn so they had to cut it and reattach it to the fibula.

The end result is a cast up to my knee and extreme pain that is not responding very well to the pain medication.

I’ll be in the cast for four weeks followed by a cam walker and more physical therapy.

Leg all wrapped up like a mummy!

Back to work tomorrow, well on a limited basis anyway have some pretty big deadlines that can’t be missed so I’ll be powering through them.

Oh yeah buy Popcorn!

Been a while

It sure has been awhile. Everyday I say to myself today is the day I sit down and put my thoughts together into a post. Then I end up battling CSS until 2am for this project that is turning out amazing but is much larger than I anticipated.

Work is busy but wonderful. I have learned some new skills and honed some old ones that I pulled out of the closet. Why hello there old friends what were you doing hiding amongst the dust bunnies behind my doc martens? Lots of exciting stuff that I can share with you in a few more weeks. Until then my lips are sealed.

Going to Colorado and then UK in a few weeks I am really looking forward to it though I will miss my little rascals for sure.

Two of them are having birthdays before I leave so that will be fun. The boys had such a good time at Disney World and are already overuling me and want to return next year.

So the project I mentioned above has a huge powerpoint as the icing on the cakey parts. It is long like over 100¬†slides and then I saw this Dilbert cartoon today. I really hope this isn’t what people will think:

Well hopefully people find it helpful. I think they will! If not then I lost a couple weeks of my life that I will never get back. Oh well.

To ALL my facebook friends I am sorry I do not accept your gifts and please for help in cityville or farmville or mafia wars. But I am too busy for all that nonsense. I love facebook but find the games keep my attention only for short periods of time. Please forgive me.

My two boys are selling popcorn for Cubscouts if you would like to support them you can do so below:
